Tequila Sour

It’s tequila time people! This Tequila Sour is an easy-to-make quintessential classic cocktail to add to your home bartender repertoire that’s perfect to sip when you want something sweet, sophisticated, and strong- of course.

While the origins of the tequila sour cocktail are a bit hazy (pun intended) one thing is clear- this drink is delicious. Some say it dates back to the early 1800s when it was popularized in Mexico. Others claim that it originated in California during the Golden Age of cocktails. What I do know for sure is that a tequila sour cocktail is a timeless classic that’s always a hit!

Ingredients

• 2 ounces Tequila (Reposado preferred)
• 1/2 ounce Fresh Lemon Juice (about 1/2 lemon)
• 1/2 ounce Fresh Lime Juice (about 1/2 lime)
• 1 ounce Agave Nectar
• 1 Egg White
• 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
• Cocktail Cherries (garnish)

How to make a Tequila Sour

1. Add tequila, lemon juice, lime juice, agave nectar, egg white, and bitters to a cocktail shaker. Close the shaker tightly and dry shake (without ice) for 30 seconds.
2. Add ice to the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 45 seconds until everything becomes nice and cold.
3. Double-strain by using a Hawthorne strainer while pouring sour drink through a fine-mesh strainer into a coupe glass or old-fashioned glass.
4. Garnish with a cocktail cherry or two and serve.
